Reid’s Catering has been providing high quality food and service since 1999 in the North Carolina High Country. Owned and operated by Tina Houston, Reid’s Catering specializes in cuisine for any occasion. Houston’s diverse culinary background lends itself to varied menu possibilities, ranging from traditional favorites to ethnic flavors from around the world.

Every event is unique, and our passion for food and entertaining ensures that each client and event receives unparalleled personal attention. Innovative custom menus, with emphasis on the freshest, seasonal ingredients, paired with professional, personal service place Reid’s hand-crafted foods in demand.

We want to talk with you about your thoughts and ideas so that we can create a menu that is uniquely yours. Please look over the seasonal sample menus for inspiration. We will then arrange a time to speak with you before providing several menus for you to review.

Tasting Policy

Food Tasting is an important part of your event or reception wedding planning process, as a customer you want to test the food that you are having at your event to be sure it is exactly what you are looking for about flavor, freshness, and appearance.

  • We do not offer tasting of Appetizers or Hors D’oeuvres. Each tasting will follow the selection listed in our menus only. If you would like to taste an item outside of your package, there will be an additional charge.
  • You need to schedule an appointment for your tasting at least with one week in advance. Tastings are available Monday through Thursday. We do not schedule tastings on the weekends.
  • Menu tastings will only be scheduled after your date has been confirmed with the 35% deposit written in the contract.
  • A complimentary tasting, for up to 4 guests, for events valued at or in excess of $8,000. For events totaling less than $8,000, the cost for a tasting is $25 – $50 per person. Additional tastings are subject to charge.
  • You may select up to 4 items from your menu. You will receive full size portions of each of the items you will taste, so come hungry! Anything you can’t finish will be packed up for you to take home.
  • If you are unsure about making a reservation with Reid’s Catering for your event until you taste the food, please come visit the cafe in 4004 NC Highway 105s. Suite 8, Box 1, Sugar Mountain, NC 28604 and order from the menu. Our menu at the cafe will give you a good idea of taste and presentation.

Additional Fees

  • Staffing: 1 bartender per 50 guests at $25.00/hour, and an event manager for $30.00/hour.
  • Bar equipment: This includes bar tables, linens, coolers, ice, plastic barware, beverage napkins, stirrers, display tubs and bar tools. This fee may vary based on the headcount and complexity of your bar.
  • Glassware rental: Always optional and price varies based on length of service and different types of glassware needed. Reid’s Catering is more than happy to coordinate and order any bar ware including delivery and pick-up.
  • Service charge: 18% (taxes, insurance and coordination) This is not considered gratuity for the Reid’s Catering staff. There will NOT be a tip jar at your event unless given written permission in advance. Gratuity is greatly appreciated but always optional.

TIPS and Liquor Liability

All of our bartenders are CPR and TIPS certified. The TIPS certification includes education and training on responsible sale, consumption, and service of alcohol. Reid’s will always carry liability insurance onsite to each event.

ABC permit

We do require (if your venue does not already provide one) that the clients submit and have proof of receipt for an ABC day permit. The process is very easy. CLICK THIS LINK, and complete the instructions on the application. Once you have received the proof of certification please send it to Reid’s Catering at reidscateringco@gmail.com.
